Ticket Information

Now that our students are back in school, it is evident that many of them suffered educationally during Covid's remote learning. This past year we scrambled to find better tutors in Delhi and Varanasi and specialized tutors in subjects where student report cards showed a need for extra help. Several of our students are now in high school where India relies on state tests to make decisions about who moves on to the next grade level or enters a university. The two oldest, Sam and Sakshi, spent the year after high school in a TIG funded online class studying for the rigorous national university entrance exam in hopes of not only being accepted, but also qualifying for scholarships offered to low-caste students.

In the meantime, TIG's educational pipeline also grew at the other end. Babies were born and TIG's youngest children have reached the critical pre-school age. Your generous donations enrolled them in school and tutoring, paid for their transportation to both and bought them school uniforms and supplies.

The India Group began in 2008 when Paul and Richard, who were travelling in India, offered to pay for school for Milli, the young daughter of their Khajuraho tuk-tuk driver. Today Milli is a high school senior and the highest achieving student in her class last year. She plans on entering nursing school when she graduates in 2024. With your generous donation TIG can continue to support the other Milli's in our program who dream of graduating from high school and finding work that helps lift their families out of poverty.

Event Information

On Saturday, December 2nd from 6-9PM, The India Group (TIG) will host our annual Gala/Fundraiser. Unlike the previous two years when we invited donors to an in-person or online event, this year we will only be celebrating in-person at the Manhattan home of TIG co-founders, Paul Ramsey and the late Richard Coburn. Address: 500 W. 43rd St, Apt 30-E, New York. Cocktails will begin at 6 PM.

The evening will include a short video presentation about how we use your donations in the educational program. You'll be hearing from tutors, parents and our students regarding the importance and success of our required tutoring and why we send the children to private vs government schools. You'll also be hearing more about our unexpected success story and expenses - our college bound students! And, of course we'll be hosting our annual auction.

We’re suggesting a minimum $50.00 tax deductible donation to register for the Gala. If you are unable to attend, but want to support TIG, we will gratefully accept your donation. Anyone who donates $500 or more will be automatically entered into a raffle for a week’s stay in a waterfront two-bedroom condominium near Cancun, Mexico or a lovely 6-bedroom house in Essaouira, Morocco.
